It all started when…
in about 2007, AJ was flipping through the channels one day and saw a yoga show called Namaste Yoga. He was drawn in by the soothing music and the cinematography, but after a few days he started practicing along to the sequences. He would do this for a long time before he found the courage to go to his first class. He found that even the televised practice was helpful to creating more focus and awareness around his school work, and helped relieve the back pain he was having.
For many years, AJ would watch Namaste Yoga every time it was on (until he found the DVD's) and would go to a class when he could, which was hard because there weren't many studios around with less than an hour drive. Eventually, AJ moved to South Carolina and had access to closer studios, and also made friends with a yoga teacher, so he began to practice more consistently. However, it wasn't until his corporate job relocated him to Portland, Oregon that he began to realize the dream he had when he began practice. A dream of becoming a yoga teacher, and working to help students who, like him, had little to no access to live instruction.
Once he began teaching, things began to accelerate for him. Trainings and unique trip opportunites keep presenting themselves to him, leading to a constant growth. You can now find him teaching vinyasa, hatha, ashtanga, pranayama around town.
